Places to visit on The Isle of Wight

Ventnor Botanic Gardens - spread over 22 acres and enjoying spectacular views of the coast, these gardens host a rare collection of trees, shrubs and plants from around the world.

Osborne House - built between 1845 and 1851, this grand residence was once the seaside retreat for Queen Victoria.

Carisbrooke Castle - Charles I was imprisoned in this motte - and - bailey castle before he was sent to London for his trial and execution.

Isle of Wight Zoo - star of T.V series Tiger Island, Isle of Wight Zoo boasts the UK's largest collection of tigers, where they live in a recreation of their central Indian habitat.

The Needles - top family entertainment and terrific value, you can visit The Needles rocks, lighthouse and multi - coloured sand cliffs.

Blackgang Chine - From Weather Wizards to Nursery Rhyme Characters to the {slightly} scary Rumpus Mansion and Cowboy Town where you can lock up your kids in the Sheriffs jail, there is lots to see and do.

Isle of Wight Steam Railway - Beautifully restored Victorian & Edwardian carriages and locomotives accurately re-create the bygone age of steam train travel on the Isle of Wight.

Freshwater Bay - Freshwater Bay is another popular seaside village in West Wight. The beach at Freshwater Bay with its south facing aspect and sheltered cove is great for soaking up the sun. For something more active you can take walks over the wildlife-rich Downs either side of the bay, to Tennyson Down, the only thatched church on the Island and Jimi Hendrix memorial statue at Dimbola Lodge.
